FIBS
The First Internet Backgammon Server, is the oldest and most
popular backgammon server on the Internet. Access is free, and while
clients are available for several platforms, only a simple telnet
connection is needed in order to play. MS-Windows users can download the
FIBS/W
software for an improved interface to FIBS. There's also a collection
of
sounds for use with FIBS/W,
supplied by Mark Ferrante.

NOBS The New Other Backgammon
Server, is a stripped-down imitation of FIBS written, as the author
says, as "an alternative for those horrible times when FIBS is
unavailable. It is run by Spider (Lou Poppler).
Netgammon is a fee-based commercial backgammon server in France.
Their client software is required, and is only available for Windows.
Games Grid
is a fee-based commercial server run by CyberArts, Inc. Their client
software is required.
